i wrote my dissertation on the theory of monopoly capitalism. And i, i continued with that for about a decade. But when i got to the late 19 eighties, i realized that we were facing global ecological crisis in a way that was different than before. There was climate change and there was the global extinction of species really came to the fore at the same time. I decided that the only way to understand this was in terms of capitalism. So i wrote my book, the vulnerable planet.
