FDA for sure is on the lead for the labeling of at least the products they oversee. FDA has spent seven years trying to update this standard and we just came out with a proposed rule to do that. I think these lawsuits in some ways do provide a check on the industry because you know if you work for a food company there are plaintiffs attorneys out there who are looking to catch you on something right.
Tostitos chips without real lime. Root beer made with fake vanilla. Instant mac and cheese that isn’t so instant. These products are among the hundreds targeted by lawyer Spencer Sheehan, who wants Big Food to stop misrepresenting its products.
