The Black Migrant's War With the Devil
In 1871, more than 500 masked Klansmen rode into neighboring Union County and murdered eight black men. Governor Scott planned to disarm the state's black militias fearing that their existence was provoking white violence rather than preventing it. Nearly every white man in York County had joined the Klan.
