The lowest approval rating for Donald Trump's presidency was not Charlottesville, it was the day that the tax cuts and jobs act actually passed. To the extent that Trump is able to win back or keep on working class votes is largely because of cultural effects of the Democratic Party. A lot of the economic libertarians within the party were pretty upset with Trump, but were willing to fight with him on a lot of cultural ground.
