The Cost of the Opposition in Ukraine
Russia has done a lot to control popular opinion and keep it on site, says David Frum. He talks about the redistribution of resources from state granaries to well-off segments of society. The opposition is being hit by some of the most adaptive, active and educated young people choosing to flee the country because they are opposed to Putin's regime. Some of these individuals just can't take it and return home where they have no choice but to work for Putin, whether directly or indirectly. And there are perhaps uncomfortable truths within this approach that Russia has adopted so far.
