Johnson had extraordinary contectal intelligence for domestic policy, but a weak emotional icu. He shared the causation view of the domino theory and so forth with others. But i think there's a case where the culpable negligence is more, he owns more of it. And this idea that that the invasion of ero was going to democratize the middle east just showed a real lack of due diligence and conjectural intelligence. If they'd analyzed this in terms of a chequer board instead of dominoes, they would have said that we could come out very well with an anti-communist vi nom.
