What's the Tonal System?

Some syllables are marked tone and some of them are unmarked tone. Depending on the dialect, the marked tone will be realized differently. I figure in the standard dialect marked is high following the unmarked is just plain. It's like a continuation of the tone of the last syllable or,. or just sort oflike in the middle somehow. But I don't know what, is that how you envision your neutral tone or have you really figured that out yet or what?
