The History of Slavery in the United States
Slavery was still legal in the North at the time of this convention. They all understood that it was immoral, says historian Julian Zelizer. Some people like Governor Morris from Pennsylvania and Rufus King argued against the entire principle on a moral point of view. That idea was quickly shot down.
