The Greatest Scandal in Peace Corps History
Witnesses said they saw a fellow volunteer, 24-year-old guy named Dennis Pravin, dragging Gardner's body from her house. He was found not guilty by a jury in Tonga by reason of insanity. And he was flown back to the US in early 1977 under a promise from the State Department to have him committed involuntarily to a mental institution. But once in the US, he was released. So this man murders a fellow Peace Corps member woman. We've seen it before and we'll see it again, unfortunately.
