The buying and selling is all done using cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, digital money that's often impossible to link back to a person's real identity. US authorities eventually managed to shut down Silk Road in 2013 after a long investigation. But news sites keep popping up offering exactly the same criminal marketplaces.
