The Importance of Electricity in a Factory
In the 1880s in electricity, it was very clear that this was going to be a big deal. But what happened at first when say companies were adopting electricity? They take out their candles and put in electric lights in the exact same place. And these point solutions where you take out the old technology, put in the new, but don't mess with your workflow, the upside is necessarily limited. The best you could do with electric motor in a factory, if all you're doing is replacing the steam engine, is save on energy costs.
