The Differences Between Risk Management and Security
There's a difference here also between risk management or risk avoidance versus security. Delete the encryption key and then send that drive off to be wiped and reused. These drives are still very useful. Even when you get past actually reusing the drives, there's heavy metals inside these drives. And in a lot of cases with these refurbished drives, those are coming with warranties from that company anyway.
