The Origins of the Vandals
The Vandals were a minor barbarian group, one of many that existed along and beyond the frontier. They spoke a Germanic language closely related to Gothic; like the Goths, they were fond of imported Roman luxury goods. How and why the Vandals ended up among a host of barbarians on the borders of Gaul is basically unknown.
