The Influence of Constantine on the Empire
Constantine did not impose Christianity on the Empire but he did promulgate laws that benefited Christians starting with some pretty cool tax breaks. Constantine never relinquished the title of Pontifex Maximus, chief priest which empress had always held and which was associated with Rome's traditional pagan cults. But I don't think there's any sense in which Christianity was the Empire's official religion by the end of Constantine's reign. In fact we find him extending favor to pagans in various contexts.
