How to See the Milky Way From the Point of View
Long wavelength light is really good at getting through clouds of tiny little particles. Some parts of the galaxy are like really bright in x-rays and dim and divisible, so you need x-ray telescopes to see them. James Webb, for example, is an infrared telescope. So we built up sort of a 3D map of the galaxy.
