The Rise of the Ukrainian Language as a Form of Resistance
I found it fascinating how the Ukrainian language has really grown sort of over the last 18 months in that vein. I'm currently in Kiev which used to be a bilingual city with I would say a Russian preference but now the soundscape in the capital has changed completely. It's become clear to everyone it seems or almost everyone that the language of the aggressor is not something to continue using without consequences. Russia has weaponized this language and Ukrainians are you in the consequences right now. So we are on this course to explore our roots, to explore our literary history to understand what has been distinguishing us from our imperial oppressors for a very long time.
