Is the Harbor Bosch Process a Good Thing?

The harbour Bosch process is used to make ammonia, a key ingredient in many explosives. It's estimated that it takes up about 1% to 2% of the world's entire energy supply. But again, this is done to prevent widespread famine, so I suppose it's probably worth it. Increased food security leads to an increase in global population - and you can't have one without the other. At the end of the day, Fritz Harbessaw off what would have become a global calamity if a reliable source of fertilizer had been found.
