The Synalpheus Genus of Pistol Shrimp

Pistol shrimp, also known as snapping shrimp, are one of the more internet famous residents of coral reefs. A typical colony of synalpheus regalis shrimp lives within coral reefs inside the hollows of sea sponges. Instead of all fighting each other to pass on their genes, it seems like reproduction in non-queen females is repressed somehow and everyone gets along just swimmingly.
