Joy Division existed for less than five years and they had no idea how to play their instruments when they decided to be a band. Peter Hook borrowed money from his mom to buy a bass guitar the very next day. Joy Division did not become the band you know them as until 1979. The vast majority of music this band put to tape is objectively unlistenable.
