Tertullian's Theology
Tertullian's theology was not without criticism, however. His use of the term substantia would draw criticism from other Christians. It suggested that divinity was some tangible element which could be divided and shared across the three persons like a piece of a pie. Despite whatever misgivings others had about it, Tertullian’s vocabulary remained firmly entrenched in the Latin Christian lexicon.
