The Strangest Sightings of the Airship

Over the span of just five months, reports came in from over 150 different witnesses. Most described it as nearly 200 feet long, much larger than any derigible at the time. The craft was spotted across 20 different states in the U.S., sometimes hundreds of miles apart. In one case, a Utah resident reported seeing smoke billowing out of three distinct smokestacks and that it was moving quickly. And then, the craft exploded. Witnesses say that the sound of the blast was heard as far away as 20 miles but it had been so low in the sky that the explosion was felt like the concussion of some sort of bomb.
