Blackrock State Street Vanguard, Invesco is number four. They use that money to buy shares in publicly traded companies across the American economy. That's what an index fund is. You own the index. With that comes not only a financial entitlement, but also the right to vote. What they're doing now is using that share to not vote for what actually advances the financial interests of the person in the 401K account.
