LZ Granderson: Children are born with prosocial tendencies which will develop and flourish, if not thwarted. He says responsive parenting is the basis of what Narve has called the engagement ethic. The kind of neighborliness envisioned by Dr. Grugaman requires imagination to see beyond our taken-for-granted in-group loyalties, he says. LZ: We need a vision of marriage that understands the role parents play in the moral development of their children.
