The Effects of Unprogrammed Breaks on Employee Motivation
Unprogrammed break time was defined as a response over one minute. In the control session, I expected people to take some breaks because two hours on this menial task is a long period of time. We're finding that if employees do not provide breaks, employers do not provide them. Rather, employees will likely find ways to take them or access the reinforcers that are most prevalent at that time. So that was kind of the purpose of including unprogrammed breaks.
