The FAA Reauthorization of Reagan National Airport

Brian Walsh: Washington has the highest domestic ticket prices in the country for anyone who flies in and out of Washington, DC. Since 1966, Congress has had a rule on the books that artificially limits the number of flights that can go into and out of Reagan National Airport. Now people say, why is Congress even involved? Which is a great question. Both Dulles and DCA are federally owned facilities. So the only way more flights can be added out of Reagan is if Congress authorizes them.
