The Memphis Design: A New Style for Kids and Pop Culture
The look of Pee Wee's playhouse was all about that radical design and 1950s kitschy appeal. The red door of the playhouse looked like a shark had taken a bite out of the side. Cherry was lime green and polka dots and random shapes were everywhere. Everything clashed but it absolutely stood out. And then there was another massively influential show for 80s kids which also embraced this style.
