The song All for the Klondike Gold is about the women left behind by their male companions who suffer death and root to the Klondikes. White Chappell was just one of the names for Dawson City's Red Light District. Alone, women had few prospects for honest work, and some had to turn to prostitution as a temporary occupation and means a survival.
