A Review of the Nutcracker

Reviews of the Nutcracker were mixed. Some critics insisted that act one was barely a ballet at all. At this point in russian ballet history, younger students did not usually share the stage with older teens and adults. The focus on child in the first act also meant that the most striking balletic performances done by the company's most prominent dancers didn't happen until very late in the evening.
