David: I run a lot of Ubuntu 18.04 based appliance VMs on a Debian 11 host using Libvert. Occasionally it becomes necessary to increase the allocated RAM to one of these VMs as the load increases, but my current procedure requires a reboot of the VM and results in downtime. Is there any downsides to configuring extra memory that I can expand into on the fly as needed? Or is this a bad idea that could lead to instability? This episode is sponsored by Linode.
