What Are Some of the New Things You're Doing?

Vera was an incubator of non-profit innovations that it would run demonstration projects on alternatives to incarceration, indigent defense. It would essentially create solutions to problems, test those things for effectiveness and then spin them off as freestanding nonprofits. Our theory about what Vera needed to be doing was that we got to the system of mass incarceration and mass policing as a function of democracy.
