Dante uses odysseus as a model. He should have left circe, but he shouldn't have left penelope. That's the fundamental question that we're trying to ask now. Is that transgression illegitimate, or is that a sort of legitimate striving? I don't think i would have been able to get there if i was only rationally concerned with my own well-being and making a good job. And so it's no surprise that when gerard uses as patience, if you will, for h analysis, he chooses the klausits, the napoleons, holderlins of the world,. people who want to conquer the world through word or through sword.
