Hannibal is able to perceive the weaknesses of even strong opponents like Fabius. He uses their caution to be bold and escape from what seemed to be very difficult situations. Manuchus was left in command with the order to be delaying, to not get involved in combat. The two camps are separated by a hill which is quite strategic. Hannibal sends light infantry onto that hill while Manuchus attacks with his cavalry. It's an even kind of fight. Then Manuchus marches out with his whole army to win this strategically unimportant hill. At one point Hannibal springs a trap but he can't take the battle as he has already spent some time fighting at the same time. And
