As soon as you're out of residency, you'll owe taxes on that money. This is a common situation when people leave their residency or fellowship training. They've lots of uses for cash. And sometimes it's a little bit easier when the new employer won't let you contribute to the for one cay because he got so many other things to do with your cash.
