The Non-Elective Dimension of Rights
I'm thinking now in terms of like we often are in a relationship that is elective when we're navigating rights claims or involved in right speech. But I'm also thinking of how we as a society are losing hold of the non-elective dimensions of our personality and of our association. It's just like religious belief and practice kind of breathes life into political engagement or investment. And so again, this is the big problem ultimately with individualism, right? In the bad sense that we often see with it. It's mythical. Right?
