The Third Kind of Travellers to the Orient

Syed: There are three kinds of travelers who would go to the Orient. The first kind is one who specifically tries to contribute to orientalism, he says. And then there's someone for whom the trip satisfies a deeply felt and urgent project. Syed: These people were exalted in so far as their words were seen as being objective because they were physically there. So therefore what they were saying must be objective.
