The Importance of War Shows
Bob Hope's last military gig was in 1990 when he went to the Gulf at the age of 87. The thing about his war shows is that for a lot of parents, brothers and sisters, whatever, friends at home, this was the only time they were able to see one of their family members who was off at war on camera during Christmas time. Some of them had grandfathers who had seen Bob Hope in the Second World War performing. It's mad the idea that you go to a gig and your grandfathers are the same comedian.
