President Biden says he wanted to shoot down the balloon as soon as he heard about it on Wednesday, but was advised against it by the Pentagon. Reports say the Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Mark Milley were confident they could block the balloon from gathering intel while it wasn't our airspace. The Pentagon also said the balloon was not gathering any information that Chinese weren't already getting from satellites,.
