I Love My Children Before They Believe Anything
In our parenting, we tend to fear that our kids might embarrass us somehow. Andy was so great at dialing that back and making them feel like they are far more important than his reputation. I think this is true for all parents, but particularly pastors' parents or people who have some sort of major platform of influence. Maintaining your reputation through your children is not it. It is deeper and stronger than that.
