The Importance of Relationships in Business
Sometimes we can get in the trap of hiring people that emulate us too much or give us what we want versus what we need. I think a lot of it comes down to hero complex or hero syndrome, which part of it is, I guess, egotistical. The way you work with your first senior staff member is entirely different to how you would work with somebody mid or junior level. It's like a reinforcing cycle. You just keep on going in that way. And so to get out of that bind, you have to reverse that cycle somehow.
