The Wizard of oz was the second book that bomb and denslow had worked on. They wanted to use color plates, which was this new technology at the time,. The publisher said no so bom and denslow paid for the color plates themselves. There are over a hundred two colortextural illustrations that change as dorothy goes from one place to another.
