The Uncanny Origin Story of Yannes Korchik
The idea of stories as solace or consolation is something I discussed a lot with the Bulgarian writer Georgie Gosbodinoff. And it also makes me think of the uncanny origin story for your novel that you're at Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum in Israel with your Jewish wife. You were captivated by this notion of Yannes Korchik choosing to play from India and to play the post office that you not only knew well, but had performed as a child in India. But then also I would tag on on the end, if you share Tagore's belief in art as social reform.
