The AFL Drafting Process at Under 18 Level
AFL clubs tend to draft athletes based upon weaknesses or perceived weaknesses they have at their team. At that under 18 into the AFL drafting process it's somewhat harder but I guess we've looked from a game play perspective so we've kind of mined into their genie. They accrue these champion data statistics as well so real game specific notations to see the difference between drafted and non drafted players in terms of their game style involvement. What we found is that very generically players that are drafted into the AFL tend to accrue a high number of inside 50 so they deliver the ball into the attacking 50 metre arc more often than players not drafted.
