How to Find Good Goals

I think of human society as a bunch of these different little overlapping clouds. We're all just physical systems who learn human values somehow. If AI systems can learn something like human values, but inaccurately, some distance from the true answer that they are. It seems like short term goals are not very alarming in general. A lot of goals are relatively short term.
