The Moral Luck Concept of Extreme Altruism
Could the same person be both, say, a Rwandan killer in the 1990s and an extreme altruist? Or is that a contradiction? My husband actually wrote about the Rwandan genocide. He has sometimes explained that to some of the killers, it felt like a community building exercise. It's very obvious that people have sacrificed themselves as often for terrible causes as for good.
