i basely wrote an oral history of the conficts anowas y. And whilst i was doing that, i acted as a kind of consultant for the army. advising generals and teaching units before they went out to afghanistan. I then finished my ph d, took my pety in two years, and then sent the copy to the army,. They said, this is fantastic. This was a view of the conflict that nobody had seen before. It was the afghan point of iew os, the helmandy point of view. The brigade commanders that i worked for found that very useful. We said, thi sort of very refreshing viewpoint.
