Are You a Black Poet?

I was thinking that it's kind of ironic that we have an iconic poem by Brooks featuring a golden shovel in 1959, just over 20 years after another iconic poem about a red wheelbarrow by William Carlos Williams. And I was wondering whether we can place Brooks's poetry in relationships that earlier experimental American modernist tradition of poetry.
