Parson's mother was an enslaved woman named charlotte, and her father was white. In 18 63, tolliver moved to mc clenan county, texas, taking at least part of his enslaved work force with him. Lucia would grow up to be known as lucy parsons. We don't have documentation of parson's thought process or her motivations after moving to chicago.
