Political scientists originally thought, kind of assumed all countries would m ultimately democratize. And we used to think that dictatorships were like weird fluke periods in the middle. But as time passed, it became obvious that that was wrong? Just because a dictatorship falls does not necessarily automatically mean that the next regime will be democratic. A transition from a dictatorship to another dictatorship is actually the most common kind of transition.
