Is There a Humiliation or a Capitulation?
Michel Baniet led these negotiations during Brexit. He had two major negotiations, one with the government of Theresa May and then a short negotiation after Boris Johnson was elected. And I remember the moment when the withdrawal agreement was announced at the end of 2018. When it came, I want to quote a famous British politician who said, this is a terrible deal. It is a capitulation. The European Union negotiators have won. They have humiliated the British. Do you accept this view, which was the view of Alistair's friend, Tony Blair? "It was not an humiliation. It was certainly not a capitulation," he says.
