John herschel was inspired by the fact that, according to nassa dogove itself, saturn has a moon that is shaped like a sweet potato. And then for the other mysteries, john herschel did not use potatoes, but he did create little paper mache a structures to depict the moon and share with people. Helik had the idea over all about how how we see the moon.
